Giraffa camelopardalis

10’ x 10’ x 12”

The world’s tallest animal is native to central, eastern and southern Africa. Giraffes have been seen across the world in art and culture in ancient Rome as well as in the 1400’s in both Europe and China. Always a quiet, gentle animal the giraffe has long been a symbol of the exotic and the splendid. Giraffe’s have been revered for their beauty and uniqueness and coveted as the ultimate symbol of knowledge and wealth. Giraffes were previously killed just for their tails, which were used as fly swats, good luck charms and threads for sewing. Now, the main threats to the giraffe are habitat loss and poaching for meat and hides.
